A unique blend of uncrowded waves and Senegalese culture. Located on the Western tip of Africa, it is exposed to both swells from the North and South Atlantic. Meaning consistent waves all year round. A relaxed and serene island feel, but only a 5 minute boat ride from the bustling city life of dakar.
3. How do I get to the surf camp from the airport?
We provide 24/7 pick up service from the final stop (Yoff) on the airport shuttle bus. Otherwise, we can provide a direct airport transfer for 50 euros for up to 5 people.
4. Do I need vaccinations?
The Foreign Office recommends the yellow fever vaccination, however there has not been a case for over 10 years in Dakar. Although if you plan to travel outside of Dakar it is advised.
As a US or EU citizen, you don’t need a visa to travel to Senegal.

Payments can be made through either bank transfers, credit card/Paypal (+ 5% transaction fee), or cash. We require a 20% deposit to secure a booking, the final balance can be paid at the end of your stay.
Do I need to bring my own wetsuit?
Only if you want to! We have them in all sizes including junior sizes.
Do I need travel insurance?
We always advise the appropriate travel insurance for surfing.

There are a lot of pharmacies and doctors on the mainland. Due to a large expat community the health infrastructure is well established and SOS Médecins also operates in Dakar. This work seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day,
How is the infrastructure in Senegal?
The infrastructure is generally good in Senegal, but at times, the mainland and island can experience water and electricity cuts.
We have a solar system charging our battery at daytime and there are USB outlets where you can charge different devices all day around.
Our generator runs from 19.00 (7pm) to 23.00 (11pm) every evening which means you can plug in and charge other devices.
In case of a water cut, we have a backup tank that can supply the entire camp running normally.
All our water is heated by a solar heating system.
Is it okay to come visit during Ramadan?
Yes, in general everyday life continues as normal. Restaurants are still open and the surf spots are even more uncrowded than usual.
Is it safe to swim in the ocean?
Yes it is. We have three beaches on the island, all used by both locals and tourists to swim in.
Is there a diving club in NGor?
Is there Malaria in Senegal?
We haven't had any incidents of Malaria for the 8 years Jesper (the owner) has had the camp as Dakar is a dry city located next to the sea - but it is of course up to you to decide. Your doctor will properly suggest you bring Malaria pills as there is malaria in the southern parts of Senegal.

Breakfast is from 7am-10am every day

Since suncreen is quite expensive in Senegal, it can often be cheaper to bring one from home.

Senegal is a modern country, so you can find everything here as if it was a western country.
Sightseeings and activties in Dakar and Senegal beside surfing?
There is a variety of things to do beside surfing - both in form of activities and sightseeing.
- Fishing: there are options to fish off the island or during a deep sea boat trip.
- Kickboxing lessons on our rooftop: twice a week we have kickboxing lessons with a local instructor.
- Spearfishing with the local spearfishermen. You can rent a speargun on the island. It is 5000CFA (8EUR) a day.
- Snorkeling there are multiple spots to explore and you can rent equipment on the mainland.
- There are two diving clubs on the mainland you can join for a diving session.
- Beach soccer with the locals: Soccer is a big thing in senegal and on most of the beaches around Dakar you'll find a match going on. They are happy to let you join.
- Try your hand at mosaique: There is an artist on the island who offers a workshop on how to make mosaique.
- Learn to play Djembe: Djembe is the traditional African drum around and we can organise a lesson from the local instructor!
- Private French lessons in the camp: We can provide a teacher if wanted!
- Massage in the camp: There is a great masseur on the mainland which can come by the camp
- Visit Dakar's existing nightlife - one of our surf guides will gladly join, and we often arrange trips for the whole camp to the bars and discos in Dakar.

Travelling to Senegal with kids?
We say it is safe to bring children above the age of two years to Senegal. Jesper (the owner) has a young daughter and many guests have brought young children.
What is the currency in Senegal?
The currency in Senegal is West African CFA franc (currency code XOF) and it has a fixed exchange rate to the euro: 1 Euro=655 CFA
You can exchange Euros on the island or on the mainland. We don't have an ATM on the island but there are plenty on the mainland.

There are an abundance of different breaks ranging from beginner to advanced, from beach to reef breaks.

What level does the surf school require?
All levels are welcome at the surf school and we go to different surf spots depending on the group level. Our surf teachers all speak French and English - some better than others.
What to wear since Senegal is a muslim country?
You can wear whatever you want. Senegal is a very progressive muslim country and in the summer the younger generation wear swimsuits and drink beers at the beach.

What's the nightlife in Senegal and Dakar like?
There is a thriving nightlife on the streets and in the nightclubs of Dakar. One can drift through the sounds of Afro Cuban Jazz towards more contemporary beats of hip-hop.
In general Dakar is a very safe city and this includes nights out in the town. As the majority of the Senegalese people are muslims, most of them don't drink but they still know how to party!
Senegal also have a long and proud music history - even before Youssou N'Dour made it world famous! You can find venues playing everything from Hip-Hop and Jazz to Blues and Reggae! It can be a bit tricky to find online as the rumour mostly goes from mouth to mouth so you will have to ask around. You can always ask our surf guides as they will know the events coming up.

The national language in Senegal is French but Wolof is spoken more widely as the level of French can depend on education. English is becoming more widely spoken every year. All of our staff can speak French and a lot of them speak english too.
