Ramadan
We have scheduled Ride N ReConnect so it is happening simultaneously with a very special occasion in Senegal: Ramadan - the ninth month of the Islamic calendar which is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (Sawm) to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammed according to Islamic belief. And since 94% of the Senegalese population is Muslim the normal busy life of Dakar and NGor island is turned around: People will sleep and relax during the day and celebrate from sunset to sunrise. The reason why we did this was to provide you with a tranquility that can't be found very often as most of the people on the island leave for this period. This means you will have the island, the surf spots, and the beaches all for yourself. Our staff, surf guides and a few restaurants on the island will stay open, so no need to be afraid!
Every Wednesday during the Ride N ReConnect month we will join a Ramadan dinner by the locals on the mainland to give our guests an unique opportunity to firsthand experience how this tradition is celebrated.

Teachers
We have teamed up with three dedicated yoga instructors who also share a big passion for surfing! We can't wait to have these wonderful people help us unfold the benefits of combining yoga and surfing!
Sergio Zennaro
- Italian
- 200hrs YTT in Rishikesh India
- 7 years of practicing yoga
- 10 years of surfing
Sergio is an italian smiling guy, yogi, designer, digital nomad and board enthusiast.
Grew up skateboarding, became a snowboard addict when he discovered you could skate on snow, and a surfer when he realized you could feel the same bliss in the ocean.
7 years ago after a knee injury sustained snowboarding he decided to give yoga a try and got hooked for life after his first shavazana.
Soon it became a daily practice and he noticed how it - not only - healed his wounds but changed his mind and his approach to life. This path lead him to Rishikesh for a 200h Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training in 2016.
His teaching style focuses on long gentle deep stretches to relax and heal, using the body and the breath as a tool to quiet the mind and reach a meditative state.
Birgit Hermann
- Half German, half kiwi (New Zealand).
- 200hrs YTT, Rishikesh, India, and Buddhist meditation training in Nepal
- 6 years of practicing yoga
- 20 years of surfing
For Birgit yoga is about uniting your breath with your body and mind and bringing balance into your life.
Surfing, yoga and mountainbiking brought her around the world. She loves the underwater world as much as the surf and is an advanced freediver – breathing skills that go hand-in-hand with surfing and yoga.
Yoga has been a part of Birgit’s life for over 6 years, and helped her achieve some long-distance endurance events. She is an accomplished ultramarathon runner and crossed the length of the African continent by bicycle.
The mix of athletic accuracy, her love of the ocean, the kiwi flow of life and Asian spirituality comes through in her style of yoga following a strong and meditative Vinyasa sequence targeted at surfers. Her hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed and balanced, and ready to take on the waves.
Austin Wainwright
- Nationality: British/Spanish
- 200hrs YTT in Rishikesh, India
- 2 years of practicing yoga
- 20 years of surfing
Growing up in the Canary Islands surfing, free diving and as an ocean lifeguard Austin knew breath was something important but it wasn’t until he began a consistent and formal yoga practice two years ago that it became just apparent how vital our breath and Prana are.
After working for various NGOs and also at sea for a number of years his quest to learn more about yoga and ultimately himself took him to Nepal, India and Bali. The lessons learned there had a profound effect on Austin’s life which led him back to Ngor Island and to work at the surfcamp. Where next? No idea but wherever it is yoga will be part of him.
